Our bioethics faculty employ their philosophical, clinical, and other applied backgrounds to offer in-depth analysis of issues arising in public health, healthcare research, genetics/genomic medicine, and clinical arenas.
Research/Practice: Ethical and social issues arising in clinical genetics and genomic medicine, pediatrics, and nursing; philosophy of medicine and philosophy of biology; public health ethics and policy (especially, immunization programs, political legitimacy, religious accommodation, and social justice); ethics of data, information, and artificial intelligence.
Research: The Ethical Use of Medical Chaperones in Sensitive Exams. Practice: Education of health care providers and public health professionals in areas of bioethics.
Research/Practice: Ethical issues in genetic/genomic research and clinical practice, including informed consent, management of incidental findings and return of research results, precision medicine, and polygenic risk assessment; ethics of research design and conduct, especially mental health research, research involving predictive analytics, and device research; policy development regarding generative AI in research and education; conflict of interest, including institutional conflict of interest.
